"Artistic expression, stumbling sentences, and intentions to inspire."

Today I got to swim Jelly Fish Lake. The first time since the 7th grade! It felt great experiencing this place again and actually taking pictures this time :)

The Importance Of Idle

For those of you who read this blog I want to say a sincerest thank you first. I’ve recently been home for the past two weeks, so needless to say I haven’t been exercising my creative mind since I’ve been home. I’ve sketched, taken photographs, and broke open a few books that I’ve been meaning to break open for a while, but alas my lazy and idle nature has taken over since I’ve been back. I plan to break this drought very soon. I’ve been saying that to myself for the longest time. In due time I will do something productive with my life. For now I am going to relax and enjoy my time in my beautiful tropical home :)

Obsessed With Food

This book jacket was done out of my recent obsession with food photography. The lighting set up was simply a window light, a wooden table, white construction paper to act as diffusers and backdrops. This was really fun for me to do. I ate the food after I took pictures of it. Probably one of the most fun projects I’ve done in a while.

You know the feeling when you are working on something and you feel whether or not it is worth it to keep going with the idea you have? That was the feeling that I had when I was working on this project. Ideas came slowly. I almost scraped this project and worked on another idea. I wanted to challenge myself to keep pushing on an idea that I had and I wanted to come into existence. This was that idea. I came to one conclusion upon finishing this project. Is that I HATE GRADIENTS! Ugh! But i’d like to think I am more familiar now.

Editorial Spread: “Our Fast Food Society.”

I’ve always found that editorial design is an area of design that I am very interested in. I hope to someday work for a magazine or publication. This piece was done for my typography class. I still want to go farther with it, as far as the typography is concerned. It could’ve gone a lot further. The illustration was something that I feel really strongly about, so I focused all my time in it.

Pictures Through A Pinhole (Photo Series)

These photos were taken through a pinhole lens made for my SLR. My set up was a Nikon D90 and that Pinhole lens. The scenery was from a recent camping trip to the Smoky Mountains.

Keep On Plodding

As the last few weeks of school dwindle down. I read something this morning that gave me the pick me up I needed.

” When trials intrude to slow down your life, it would be easy for us to give in, but by perseverance we will overcome strife, so just keep on plodding. With Christ we can win.”
